Her novel\u00a0<i>Lilies for Love<\/i> won the Society of Women Writers biennial book award for junior\/teenage fiction, and <i>Willows for Weeping<\/i> received a Highly Commended. <i>Rosemary for Remembrance<\/i> was a CBC Notable Book. <em>The Janna Mysteries<\/em> are on the Victorian Premier\u2019s Reading Challenge list. <a href=\"http:\/\/momentumbooks.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\">Momentum<\/a> have just published her novel<em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.felicitypulman.com.au\/books\/i-morgana.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><em>I, Morgana<\/em><\/a>,<\/em> a rewriting of the &#8216;wicked witch&#8217; of Arthurian legend, telling the story from Morgana&#8217;s point of view.<\/p>\n<p>Having just returned from a three month Di Yerbury residency in the UK, Felicity invited me to guest post on her blog&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Hi Felicity! Thank you so much for inviting me to talk on your blog. You asked about social media so I thought I\u2019d address the most common queries I get from fellow authors about the subject. Although I\u2019ve won a number of national writing competitions (ten, lucky me!), I haven\u2019t yet published my novels \u2013 so author buddies often want to know why I have a larger following than they do. Some authors aren\u2019t even on social media (*gasp*) so want to know what\u2019s in it for them. Others just want to know my story. So, I\u2019ll start by answering what\u2019s in it for authors\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Want to know more? Squee!! I received the judge&#8217;s comments this morning, describing <em>Rider &amp; the Hummingbird<\/em> (teen fiction) as &#8220;a strong, original, well-written, suspenseful and dramatic tale&#8221;&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Fourteen year old Lan is in an isolated juvenile detention centre in the Australian Alps, for the crime of hacking into the Defence Department\u2019s highly secret computer system which controls drones \u2013 although he declares his innocence of any evil intentions. While in detention, he relieves his boredom and frustration by attending Buddhist mediation classes led by the Monk&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px; text-align: center;\">[<em>spoilers withheld!!<\/em>]<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8230;There are surprising plot twists, moments of high elation, and deep despair, personal challenges, red herrings and betrayals. The sheer gripping excitement of its cliff-hanging chase scenes and Lan\u2019s dogged determination to complete his physical endurance ride should engage a wider audience than only those teen readers interested in computers. Lan\u2019s deep thoughts and emotions about his family relationships and his current situation are believably conveyed. Other characters and dialogue open up his claustrophobic world a little, and the Monk\u2019s escape-artist ferret adds elements of humour and light relief. Tightly and economically written, the taut intensity of Lan\u2019s stance on the cover illustration further heightens the tension and drama of the plot. This book tells a strong, original, well-written, suspenseful and dramatic tale&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I can&#8217;t wait for you to read it.
