The crowd gathered…<\/p><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

Last Thursday night, the NSW Writers’ Centre took their tutors out of their comfort zones and asked them to create a story, mashing together two very different genres.<\/p>\n

My challenge was to mash up…<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

…the podium awaited…<\/p><\/div>\n

social media<\/p>\n

fairytales<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Reading out my genre mash!<\/p><\/div>\n

Oh my!<\/p>\n

I was concerned the crowd waiting to hear my story at Books Kinokuniya<\/a> might not appreciate my genre mash \u2013 a fairytale I’ve called \u2018Jack and the Interstalk\u2019.<\/p>\n

I was the first on stage too…<\/p>\n

\"Screen<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

But I needn’t have worried!<\/p>\n

It was a hit!<\/p>\n

There were some scary bits in the story, but…<\/p><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

George Catsi and Jane Meredith got up too, entertaining the crowd with their self-help romance and fantasy travel guide. Fellow Tweep & Facebooker Robyne Young even invented a new genre: the New Nanna genre!<\/p>\n

It was a fantastic night and a great way for the NSW Writers’ Centre<\/a> to launch their new program of courses.<\/p>\n
