We Won! #WABIAD ‘Best Book’ Award 3rd Year in a Row! Hat trick!

Zena Shapter WABIAD awardsWoo hoo! Today my talented Northern Beaches Writers’ Group and I were awarded ‘Best Book’ in the 2015 Write-a-Book-in-a-Day competition’s open category. What a thrill!

Doubly so because this is the third year in a row we’ve been awarded ‘Best Book’.

Hat trick!

Every year for the past three years, we’ve wanted to take part in the competition to raise money for the Kids’ Cancer Project. In total we’ve raised about $6,500 in sponsorship monies and more through selling our books, Scribbles in the Dark and A Dolphin for Naia.

Buy them here to help use raise more!

THANK YOU 2015 SPONSORS!!

THANK YOU 2015 SPONSORS!!

This year, the nationwide competition saw 500 teams compete and raise $114,000, spread across the school and open categories. Every year more and more teams are joining, writing in support of kids’ cancer research. Did you know that cancer kills more Australian children than any other disease? If that upsets you just as much as it does me, then here’s a good way to help…

He he 😉

Hopefully we will publish our book from this year too, Rider & the Hummingbird, though that will involve many days of editing yet to come… so watch this space. In the meantime, have a Happy Halloween, and enjoy these pictures from our award ceremony today:
