Okay, so this one’s going to shock you a bit… but here we go… I – don’t – drive.
Yes, you read that correctly. Now calm down and let me explain. I have my driver’s licence, I passed my test first time, I drove for many years when I was younger – but then I stopped, and I’ve never been behind the wheel since.
Did I have a big crash, is that why I stopped?
Well, yes, I did write-off my parents’ car when I was about 18 – a lamppost ran down the road and jumped onto the hood of my car. What a story that was! It didn’t stop me from driving though.
It wasn’t until I was about 21, when I was driving into town and a woman hurled herself across a pedestrian crossing without waiting for me to stop that I started to worry. Luckily I saw her at the last minute, so slammed on the brakes.
It scared me though – what if next time luck wasn’t on my side and I couldn’t brake in time?
That’s when I stopped. Not everyone can be good at everything, and while I enjoyed some aspects of driving, I’m far more interested in what’s going on inside my mind than on the road.
I can fly. Well, I’ve had a lesson in a Piper Cherokee.
And I love riding my bike.
Also, walking everywhere is great for my figure (see Chocolate).
So, for now at least, I think it’s best I stay off the roads!
