A Festive Plea to Writers and Editors…

Reach out, you might be able to help...

With the festive season only days away, I just wanted to remind writers, editors and their colleagues in the publishing industry, to look out for each other this year. We’re a sensitive bunch, we wouldn’t be able to write and edit and rewrite as well as we do without that sensitivity.

But for some, it can get a bit much πŸ™

So please, read the post I wrote on Write Anything earlier this month… and look after each other πŸ˜€

Zena Shapter

Zena Shapter writes from a castle in a flying city hidden by a thundercloud, reaching across age and genre into the heart of storytelling. A multi-award-winning author of speculative and contemporary fiction, she teaches writing at festivals, libraries and schools, judges various literary awards, mentors and edits other writers, and encourages everyone to value the importance of creativity. She loves movies, frogs, chocolate, and potatoes, though not at the same time!

  1. Thanks for this Zena, so true! I’ve decided to reach out more this week and also visited my own counselor for a brainstorm on how to manage my writing direction with better ease (have felt overwhelm and don’t earn much this time of year).

I hope to get out more too, and plan to come along to writing groups. Thankyou again for opening up to those of us reaching out…especially this time of year. Merry Christmas! Love Taryn

    • Well done on being so proactive, Taryn! You’ve already made things better for yourself by reaching out. Have the best festive season that you can, remember that it doesn’t have to be perfect, then look forward into the new year πŸ™‚

  2. Great post Zena, really struck a chord with me. Something I love about the writing community (sff in particular, of course) is that we do that — we look after each other. At least, that’s how I’ve found it πŸ™‚

    *hugs*
