Saltwater

Adult Anthology – ISBN: 9780646805290

Saltwater in all its forms inspires and invigorates our communities, provides us with rejuvenation and renewal, it’s part of our routines, and we use it for self-reflection and escape. Life in a coastal community can be active and adventurous. It can also be isolating and stressful.

The poem, stories and artworks included in this anthology – selected by myself, Northern Beaches Libraries and Manly Art Gallery & Museum working in collaboration on the 2019 ‘Art & Words Project’ – revel in common experiences such as scorching hot sand, refreshing ocean, seagulls, waves and memories of going to the beach as a child, as well as the rich diversity, triumph and tragedy of coastal living. Innovation in form, sophistication of craft, and unique reflections offer diverse insights. The result is a balance of perspectives, genres and styles that reflect the thrilling yet unspoken truth of saltwater.
