Claire Corbett

Who’s that?

Claire Corbett is the author of the internationally acclaimed novel When We Have Wings, which has been shortlisted for Barbara Jefferis Award and for a Ned Kelly Award. Claire has had stories, essays and journalism broadcast on Radio National and published in Splash (Penguin), Re:Publica (A&R), Cinema Papers, Rolling Stone, Picador New Writing and The Sydney Morning Herald, among others. Her essay The Last Space Waltz? Reflections on 2001: A Space Odyssey and NASA, was shortlisted for the 2012 ABR CAL Essay Prize. She has completed a Varuna Mentorship, she teaches Popular Fiction at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), and is a doctoral candidate at the University of Western Sydney.

Decided to do something a little different as it’s a commonplace that writers write in cafes and Leura is famous for its cafes. Here’s a shot of the lovely garden at Cafe Bon Ton in Leura. I have done editing work in this cafe and had meetings with my publisher, Annette Barlow, here.
