Australian Book Lovers supports and promotes Australian authors, believing that there’s nothing better than curling up with a good story. Their podcast is a mix of literary news, interviews, readings, discussions and contemplations.
There’s also a handy search engine on their website, which helps you discover your next fantastic read! After all, it’s the imagination of passionate readers that brings life to the words on a page, as the ABL says themselves…
“From sun soaked adventures to dusty thrillers, from sweeping romance to heart pounding science fiction and fantasy, here you’ll not only find that perfect next book to read, you’ll also have the pleasure of learning more about the great Australian authors bringing literary magic to the world!”
It’s the perfect place for readers and listeners seeking intellect, insight and warmth. So I was delighted to be interviewed recently by the lovely Veronica Strachan, and to engage with her about all things books and words – plus she said I had courage and enterprise in the creative field! How lovely!
The interview is now available on their podcast as ‘Episode 93‘, which is currently being promoted to book lovers across the globe.
The episode begins with a snippet from my interview, then some news and discussion, and my actual interview begins around 45:22 minutes. I also do a reading from When Dark Roots Hunt at 2:17:20 minutes. Veronica and I talk about all kinds of literary topics, such as:
- When you know you have a true passion for writing
- How to look for holes in society and fix them
- Unpacking the layers under our skin
- The power of observation
- The different perspectives time can bring to a text
- Developing narrative voice
- Author branding
- My favourite characters
- The messy lives we live, and the acceptance of that reading brings
- Tapping into memory
- My community work
- Advice for aspiring authors
- And of course my new release When Dark Roots Hunt
